Hi, I'm Sayan Biswas from Kolkata India
I am an independent photographer and full-time software engineer, focusing on candid, documentary storytelling rooted in everyday human experiences. I began my photographic journey with a smartphone, gradually developing a sustained interest in observing and documenting life as it unfolds in public spaces. My work explores themes of culture, faith, labor, and the quiet rhythms of daily life, approached with patience and close observation.
Over the years, my photographs have received international recognition. My images have been selected five times for National Geographic Editor’s Choice, and I was awarded third prize at the Indian Portrait Prize 2024, organized by the Indian Photo Festival. My work has also been featured across various photography platforms and international publications.
My photographs have been exhibited widely, both in India and internationally. My work has appeared in exhibitions across major Indian cities and in several countries including Italy, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Australia, Brazil and New Zealand, reaching diverse global audiences.
Balancing my professional career in software engineering with a consistent photography practice, I approach image-making with discipline and curiosity. My technical background shapes my attention to structure and detail, while my visual work remains grounded in human presence and authentic storytelling.
