Hi, I'm Tanya Tiedje from Johannesburg South Africa

I am a 54-year old mother of three who is an avid walker and keen dancer. I studied Public Relations after leaving school and spent the first half of my professional life working in PR / marketing and the second half working as a storyliner and scriptwriter for one of South Africa’s largest television shows. I have always had an intense fascination with the human condition and also have a deeply spiritual side. This, combined with my longing to contribute towards the creation of a better world, led me to publish a book in 2015; a passion project which was aimed at freeing from religious dogma.

Upon losing my job as a scriptwriter at the end of 2024, I was forced to investigate other avenues of creative expression. This prompted the idea of starting an Instagram page about my walking adventures which, in turn, led to the discovery that I have a deep passion for photography. Not only does it open one’s eyes to the wonder and magic that abounds all around us, it also allows us to communicate with others in a powerful and engaging manner beyond the constraints of words and dialogue, much in the same way music does.

As a novice photographer, it is my strong desire that I will be able to grow my as yet fledgling skills to enable me to create increasingly evocative and moving images that will touch and uplift people while reminding them of how much beauty there is to be found in the world.
