Hi, I'm SRIMANTA RAY from Agartala India

Photography has been an inseparable part of my life for over 35 years. I first held a camera as a teenager, driven by a desire to understand the world through the lens. What began as a simple curiosity soon turned into a lifelong passion. Over the years, my relationship with photography has continued to evolve, but one thing has remained constant—I still consider myself a learner. Every frame I capture teaches me something new, reminding me that growth is a never-ending process.

My work is deeply rooted in authenticity. I believe in documenting the raw essence of nature and human life without manipulation. Whether I’m photographing a bird in flight, a peaceful wetland, a crowded market, or a quiet moment from everyday life, I strive to capture the scene as it is. For me, photography is about preserving truth, emotion, and spontaneity. I avoid staged or altered shots because I want each image to speak honestly to the viewer.

Over the years, my photographs have been exhibited on both national and international platforms, and I have been fortunate to receive several awards. More than 120 of my photography projects have been published in international fashion magazines. In 2024, I was shortlisted for the prestigious HIPA International Photography Award in the Sustainability category—an acknowledgment that resonates with my belief in responsible storytelling. That same year, I was honored to secure 8th position in the Queer Nature Photography Awards, a recognition that celebrates the intersection of nature, diversity, and identity.

In 2022, I received an honorable mention in the IPA Photography Contest for a photograph capturing the vibrant essence of the Rash festival of Tripura. Another highlight of my journey was when one of my images from Unakoti was selected for display at the Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi, on World Photography Day—a proud moment for me as a representative of my state, Tripura.

While these achievements are meaningful, what truly drives me is the opportunity to represent Tripura and India through my lens. I see photography as a powerful tool to raise awareness, celebrate culture, and promote conservation. I am also passionate about inspiring younger generations to explore their creative sides. I believe that photography and other art forms can be powerful alternatives to harmful distractions, particularly for youth.

To me, photography is far more than a profession or a hobby. It is Love, Lesson, and Life. It teaches patience, observation, empathy, and resilience. Through every click, I continue to discover new stories, new emotions, and new ways of seeing the world. My journey is ongoing, and I remain committed to telling honest, meaningful stories—one photograph at a time.
