Hi, I'm Rita Starinskaya from minsk Belarus
My name is Rita Starinskaya (born 1993), a Belarusian analog photographer.
I’ve been shooting film since 2019. My choice of film as a medium and language was not accidental. Looking through the viewfinder for the first time, I felt a forgotten sense of absolute presence. It’s the quiet wonder of childhood, when the world felt new and curiosity was still clear and untouched by noise.
That feeling became the foundation of my practice. Since then, I’ve been quietly, almost obsessively, chasing it — the slow, filling curiosity that keeps drawing me back to film and to the act of noticing.
Film taught me patience. Over the years, I’ve learned its mechanics: how to develop, scan, and understand its language. Yet its essence remains beyond explanation. It slows me down, reshapes how I move through the world, and reminds me that some things can only be felt, never fully known.
