Md Monsurul Azam – Documentary & Humanitarian Photographer
Md Monsurul Azam (b. 1977, Bangladesh) is a documentary and humanitarian photographer based in Chattogram, Bangladesh. His work explores the intersection of human resilience, social inequality, climate change, and labor—focusing on marginalized communities whose stories often remain absent from mainstream narratives.
Azam’s photography has earned wide recognition both nationally and internationally. He is a Finalist at the Urban Photo Awards 2025, Finalist at the Doha Photography Award 2025, and a Finalist of the Hamdan International Photography Award (HIPA) 2025, marking him as one of the emerging voices in contemporary humanitarian visual storytelling.
His works have received numerous honors and acceptances in global salon photography competitions and have been acknowledged by national platforms such as the Nikon Fan Club Bangladesh and the Phoenix Photography Awards. Azam is also deeply honored to have achieved distinction at the GTP Group Festival 2025 (GTP Guatemala, ICE Iceland, AAP Kenya) — receiving two major awards (PCA Bronze and Diploma PCA) along with 18 acceptances for international exhibition.
His photographs have been exhibited globally, including at “Fleeting Moments” organized by Dec-A-Gon, New York, and at the Swapno Palash Exhibition, India, where he earned 8th position. His works have also been showcased across various exhibitions in Bangladesh and abroad, often highlighting the resilience, dignity, and struggles of marginalized lives.
Azam’s visual narratives center on communities displaced by storms, confined by poverty, or bound to invisible labor — documenting the silent battles of survival with sensitivity and depth. His photography blends empathy with social consciousness, transforming each frame into a space of witnessing and advocacy.
For Azam, photography is not just an artistic practice; it is a testimony of existence — a means to preserve human dignity and inspire collective reflection on our shared responsibility toward one another.
