About Miles Barnfield
I am a contemporary photographic artist exploring emotion through botanical still life. Rather than seeing flowers as decorative subjects, I see them as living forms that carry the memory of place, season and environment.
Each bouquet is gathered and arranged intuitively, allowing relationships between flowers, vessels, textiles and light to emerge naturally.
Drawing upon the visual language of Impressionist still life painting, I use light, composition and restrained colour to create photographs that sit between photography and painting. Every arrangement is unique, shaped by the plants available at that moment and the emotions they evoke.
For me, photography is an act of discovery rather than invention. Through botanical forms, I seek to recognise the quiet stories already present within the natural world, creating images that invite moments of reflection and an emotional connection with the everyday.
