Evangelia Mavridou

about me
Profile: Evangelia Mavridou

Hi, I'm Evangelia Mavridou from Greece

My work moves on the border between light and silence. Growing up I developed a deep, experiential relationship with nature early on; not as a landscape, but as an inner space. The sea, the sky, the clouds and the wind became for me ways of observing and being.

As a self-taught photographer, my approach was born first from instinct and emotion and then from technical knowledge. I am not interested in the faithful representation of reality, but in revealing the imperceptible ,that subtle quality that emerges through the light, shadow and silence of the landscape.

Black and white and high contrast function as tools of abstraction. They strip the image of the superfluous, allowing the gaze to focus on the essence. Editing is an integral part of my creative process; I approach each work as if I were painting with light, shaping a space where logic recedes and sensation dominates.

My goal is to create images that are not explained but experienced. To invite the viewer to pause to a moment of inner silence where personal meaning can emerge. Art, for me, is not for everyone. It finds those who are ready to recognize within it something familiar and at the same time unfamiliar.

I do not seek to impress.

I seek to leave a memory imprint.
